Toll free number to lodge complaints on ragging

New Delhi, May 27th: Students can lodge complaint against those who involve in ragging through a phone call. To keep a check and avoid ragging, the government has enabled the students with the toll free number and the national call center for the same will start from June 15. The victims of ragging can dial the toll free number and lodge their complaints.

 

According to the new help line it will have software which will pass on the message to the head of the institution with in 15 minutes of lodging complaint. This will help the victims by making administration swing into action. Education Consultancy India Limited (ECIL) was assigned with the duty of setting up the national call center.

 

UGC Chairman Prof Sukhadeo Thorat told news reporters here on Wednesday that the nation call center will start its functions from June 15 and it will operate round the clock. UGC will monitor its functioning. Regulation say that a student found guilty of ragging will be fine up to Rs 2.5 lakh and the offence will be treated as severe criminal act.
