Time to check disease outbreak

Kakinada, Oct 2nd: It is the time for the district administration to take all necessary measures to keep away waterborne and communicable diseases, which usually occur after rainy season. Most residents under the limits of the Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC), which comprises of 50 wards, blame the KMC’s poor sanitary works. They also stated that sanitary workers did not clean roads and drainage canals, even on normal days. People complain of unclean roads, undrained canals and lack of fogging.

The district administration claims that they are taking all necessary precautionary steps to keep the city clean. KMC municipal health officer, Mr. D Bhaskara Rao said that nearly 1,000 medical and sanitary staff was engaged in round the clock services to monitor the sanitary and health position in the corporation. In general, activities include clearance of garbage and debris, anti-larval operations, testing of residual chlorine and fogging are being taken up by the sanitary staff. He added that, after these rains they are planning to conduct a special drive focusing on sanitary works.
