Kakinada, June 10^th: In wake of reports of possible sneaking of militants into state, the Kakinada port authorities have taken up security measures in the port area. Security was raised to stage II level in the vicinity of the port. Thorough checks were being conducted to avert possible entry either through sea waters or through vessels of foreign countries which touch the port for export and import operations.

In addition to this, the authorities initiated measures to check bags and baggages of the crew members of various foreign vessels. They were allowed outside the port vicinity after a thorough check of their credentials and their belongings. Even the movement of people associated with port activities was under scanner at the state port directorate. To provide security round the clock patrolling was also taken up by the port authorities along with the stake holders. These include state and marine police, customs and central excise department.
