Three held for cheating as police

Kakinada, June 20th: Three persons were arrested by Kakinada rural police in connection with extraction of money by imitating as a special police party attached to the East Godavari police. An amount of Rs 20,000 was recovered from them. Two of the arrested are home guards attached to a reserve police inspector and the third one is an outsider. Another person is absconding.

 

According to sources, four persons posing as police personnel raided a gambling den on June 17 in Kakinada city suburbs and seized Rs 20,000 from six persons. They further demanded an additional amount of Rs 10,000. When the other persons failed to do so, the impersonators took away their motorcycle with them. Suspecting them, the victims informed Kakinada deputy superintendent of Police, Mr. B. Atchuta Rao.

 

The DSP with his team inquired on the incident and arrested three persons on Saturday. Another person is absconding. Kakinada rural CI R.V.S.N Murthy said that the three were produced in the court on Saturday and they were searching for the fourth culprit.
