Owners of Textile shops had staged Dharna protesting the imposed VAT on textiles. They voluntarily closed all the textile shops here on Monday. As the entire textile shops were closed in City, there was total loss of two Crores in textile business. Earlier, Government had imposed VAT tax on readymade textiles and on 9th of this month, VAT tax has been imposed on all textiles. Protesting on this, Association of Textile business has called upon for strike. Participating in the strike, they demanded that the imposed VAT tax must be withdrawn immediately.
