Teachers get wage arrears

Kakinada, Sep 10th: Nearly 300 teachers working in various government aided schools were paid their wage arrears pending for the last six months with the intervention of the East Godavari district collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi. The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Guild state secretary Mr. I.M Deekshithulu and the district general secretary Mr. K. Santhi Raju said here on Thursday that the district education authorities stopped releasing wages to the teachers working in aided schools as their renewal of recognition was pending.

Though the government released the grant, the teachers were not paid their wages causing hardships to them. They said that when the issue was brought to the notice of the collector recently, he intervened by conducting a meeting with the managements of the aided schools and the teachers working there and persuaded the latter to pay the wage arrears to the teachers. They said that all the management paid the wage arrears for six months to teachers and expressed gratitude to the collector for help.
