TDP favors separate Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 17th: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Thursday favored formation of a separate Telangana state. This was communicated by TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu in a letter to Finance Minister and senior Congress leader Pranab Mukherjee.

Mr Naidu said in the letter that after taking into active consideration the sentimental and emotional intensity of the people in Telangana region and the subsequent developments, the TDP had constituted a Core Committee comprising of senior Party leaders to ascertain the views of the people.

The Committee had submitted its report to the Party. Mr Naidu said the TDP Politburo had thoroughly discussed the conclusion of the Core Committee and ''agreed with its recommendations in favour of formation of a separate Telangana State.''
