Kakinada, Sep 12th: The Telugu Desam assured to allocate 50 per cent seats to women to contest in the ensuing local body polls in the state. The Telugu Desam politburo member taking part in a party meet for women here on Saturday attributed credit to the late chief minister N.T. Rama Rao for giving political recognition to the women. He called upon the women to work with commitment for the development of the party and appealed to inculcate leadership qualities.
The Telugu Desam state general secretary, Mr. Gorantala Buchaiah Choudhary, appreciated the role of women for the development of the party and described the women power as compass for helping the country to march ahead in the path of progress. The TD district president, Mr. N. Chinnarajappa, recalled several welfare schemes initiated by the previous TD regime led by N. Chandrababu Naidu, to empower the women and provide social justice.
