Vijayawada, Sep 29th: The Progressive Organization for Women (POW) in Andhra Pradesh demanded the Congress Government to immediately take action against former Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) General Secretary V Chamundeswaranath for allegedly sexually harassing women cricketers during his tenure. Along with 14 women cricketers who were 'sexually exploited' by Chamundeswaranath, POW state president V Sandhya and General Secretary Jhansi said though Senior IPS Officer and State Director General (DG) M Ratan had submitted his report to the government after inquiry into the incident, no suitable action was forthcoming against the former Ranji Cricketer and Manager of the T20 World Cup held in England recently.

Ms Sandhya said the POW will support the women cricketers in the hour of crisis and demanded the police and the State Government to solve the issue once and for all. She said the women cricketers told her they were living in 'fear,' unable to attend practice sessions and concentrate on their studies. She alleged Chamundeswaranath was threatening the cricketers and their family members and luring women cricketers who already made a complaint against him to withdraw it by offering money to them. She said the cricketers were from lower middle class families and suffering mentally and physically due to the harassment from Chamundeswaranath. The women cricketers also said they had talent and performed well but some people were showing discrimination towards them hence they could not shine.
