Hyderabad, Sep 14th: With one more person succumbing to swine flu here on Monday taking the toll due to influenza A (H1N1) in Andhra Pradesh to 10, the Andhra Pradesh government decided to rope in the private sector in a big way to provide relief to the patients. Confirming that Nalgonda District Collector S K M Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi had got infected, Health Minister D Nagender told reporters here that as many as 26 patients were undergoing treatment in various hospitals at present.
Including the disease under the 'Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme' to ensure treatment for BPL patients in networked private hospitals, the State government had also made it mandatory for all private hospitals in the State to create isolation wards before September 27, the Minister said. The State government would not hesitate in closing down private hospitals refusing to treat patients with swine flu symptoms, invoking provisions of the Public Health Act, State Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Principal Secretary L V Subramanyam, who was also present, warned. All the district hospitals would treat patients with symptoms of swine flu from today, he said, adding that necessary training had been provided to the doctors concerned for the purpose.
