A 50-year-old farmer died under suspicious circumstances at his residence at Balabhadrapuram village of Bikkavolu mandal here on Sunday. As he died after a prolonged legal fight with his neighbour Kovvuri Venkata Krishna Reddy over a piece of four cents of land and lost the land to him. Family members of the deceased staged a dharna in front of Krishna Reddy's house demanding ex gratia. According to the Bikkavolu police, both Venkata Reddy and Krishna Reddy approached the court claiming ownership on a house site in the village. After eight years, the court delivered verdict in favour of Krishna Reddy. However, Venkat Reddy continued to claim ownership on the land and even paid taxes to the village panchayat. On Sunday morning, Venkat Reddy died under suspicious circumstances. The family members were claiming that he died after consuming pesticide, while the police suspecting that the death could be due to massive heart attack. A case has been filed.
