Rajahmundry, Nov 24th: Criminal died in a suspicious manner in Rajahmundry central jail. The incident took place on Monday morning at 8am when all the other co-prisoners were in the jail mess for the breakfast.
According to police, Venkataswamy(66) was accused in the case of robbery and was in the central jail from January 29, 2008. Eyewitness says that after the breakfast, Venkataswamy was back to his prison and collapsed and went into unconscious state.
Co-prisoners alerted the police and shifted the body to the Government hospital in 108, where the doctors declared dead by the time he reached the hospital. Police alleged that Venkataswamy was suffering from health problem and might died due to the same reason.
With the information of jail warden Srinivasa Rao, one town police station SI filed the case for further investigation. Body was shifted to Government hospital for Postmortem. With this incident, the jail environment and co-prisioners became quiet.
