Kakinada, July 14th: The East Godavari District collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi conducted surprise visits in two places in the district on Tuesday. He first went to the Pithapuram government hospital and verified the facilities being extended to the needy in the hospital. He later invigilated the gynecology ward and expressed dissatisfaction at the unsanitary conditions there. The collector ordered for extension of services in the hospital in addition to tubectomy and delivery cases.
Collector asked the authorities to increase the occupancy percentage in the hospital. He advised doctors not to direct patients to the Kakinada government hospital for smaller ailments. The hospital superintendent, Dr. Padmasri, accompanied the collector during his visit. Later the collector visited the Pithapuram municipal office and inspected various sections there. He expressed dissatisfaction over the delay in approval of building plans and unsanitary conditions in the town.
Later he visited the BC welfare hostel for girls at Samalkota town and enquired with the inmates about the facilities. He warned the wardens of action if any deviations occur in the actual menu being served to the inmates. He announced the extension of 104 medical services to hostels and the issue of health cards to the inmates.
