East Godavari District collector Mr Gopalakrisha Dwivedi made surprise visit on GGH on Wednesday. He suspended two Staff nurses, penalized the contractor for Rs10, 000 and gave show cause notice to the sanitary officer Venkata Rao.
He first visited the medical ward and found the sanitation was not up to the mark. He expressed ire on the sanitary officer for not improving the sanitation in spite of his repeated notices.
Collector examined the contract work and warned the contractor of canceling the contract if he does not concentrate on the work properly. He also suspended the head nurse M.Joythi and the staff nurse Jhansi Lakshmi for not supervising the sanitary.
Collector ordered to facilitate the extra beds to the people who are sharing the same bed. He also said to provide proper ventilation, fans and lights in the medical ward. He ordered to supply brooms, Phenol for sanitation to the sanitary officer.
Dommati Venkateswara Rao (MLA) asked the collector to provide latest facilities to the patients in the GGH in the casualty ward. Dr Sharma, M.D Ganapathi Rao were also there along with the collector
