Supply of cooking gas through pipelines

Kakinada, Feb 19th: Reliance industries are making plans to supply cooking gas through pipelines with in one year from now. Speaking to the media persons, company CEO, Mr P.M.S Prasad has disclosed this in a meeting organized at the company‘s onshore terminal processing unit at Pedagadimoga village on Thursday. In the first phase of the program Kakinada and Rajahmundry towns in East Godavari and Yanam, under the union territory of Pondicherry will be covered under this new system. CEO said that the supplies will be extended to other towns in the state and to other states in the country very soon.

Mr. Prasad said that necessary bids were called for the same and the laying of pipeline to carry gas from onshore terminal point in Pedagadimoga to Barouch in Gujarat was already taken up. He also said that the same line will be covering AP, Karnataka and Maharashtra. He revealed that the commercial production will start in the month of March and supplies will be made from the month of April.

 

He also revealed that besides the cooking gas supply, the priority of the gas supply will be given to the power sectors and next to fertilizer units. “Our production including the crude oil is 40 percent of total country’s production”, he said. He also felt proud to say that the company has invested 80 crore in the form of drinking water, school buildings and others to the people in the vicinity as a part of social responsibility.
