District Collector, Mrs. Neethu Kumari Prasad has conducted a review meet with officials of Transco, Irrigation & Agriculture departments about the Rabi action plan, here at Collectorate in Kakinada. Speaking on this, she stated that, in this view shortage of water resources for the second crop the farming community in the district was suggested to take up alternative crops besides cultivaton of Sree variety of paddy which requires less water. She said that this change is being suggested as the irrigation authorities expressed their inability to cater to the needs of 46,450 hectares in upland areas of the district. She also suggested the farmers to take up crops like pulses and other varieties which require less water. Joint Director of Agriculture D. Parimala, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) PD Mr. K. Sitarama Raju and other respective Transco & Irrigation officials have attended the meet.
