Warangal, June 8th: A second year MCA student of Varanasi Engineering College in Hyderabad, Mr. D. Devender Kumar committed suicide after allegedly being ragged by his seniors. His body was found on the railway track at Dharmaram near Warangal railway station on Sunday evening. Devender is a native of Choppadandi village in Karimnagar. On hearing the news of death of their son, Devender parents rushed to the college and blamed the management for not taking Devender’s complaint seriously.
Devender’s elder brother said that his brother was complaining about the ragging from past one year and the management did not take the issue seriously. He said that he personally pleaded the seniors not to rag his brother but found no change in their behavior. Going to the extremities the seniors did not allow Devender to write an exam conducted by the university.
Unable to withstand the ragging he apparently decided to end his life. The parents of the victim took his body to their native place after post mortem. Some out patient prescriptions were found by police from the pocket of the deceased youth. Police filed a case and investigations are on.
