At a review meeting organized by District Collector, Mr. M. Ravi Chandra with the rice millers, President of the East Godavari Rice Millers Association, Mr. D. Bhaskara Reddy said that rice millers were facing a tough time with various restrictions imposed by the Government on rice exports, taxes of market cess and payment of Form-C tax. Rice millers from the District on Friday made it clear that they could procure discolored paddy only when the Government solved their long-pending problems. Stating that the millers were not in a position to continue their business with restrictions around, Mr. Reddy said that they had a soft corner towards farmers and procured discolored paddy on various occasions in the past but now he cannot help in this he added. He also said that they are planning to observe strike on either 8th or 9th December demanding Government's attention towards the problems. Mr. Ravi Chandra sought cooperation from the millers to provide respite to the farmers. Zilla Parishad Chairman Mr. Ch. Venugopala Krishna and others were present.
