Hyderabad, Oct 23rd: Asserting that he had no ambition to succeed his father, Late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy's son and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today called upon party workers, including ministers and legislators, to work hard to strengthen the Congress and the hands of AICC President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Addressing the media on his return following his meeting with AICC President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi yesterday, he said his only objective was to strengthen the party and the development of the state, fulfilling the aspirations of his father.

I will work as a soldier for the development of the party and the state. I will also bring pressure on the state government to fulfill the aspirations of my father and continue the welfare and developmental programs initiated by him for the benefit of all sections of people of the state, he asserted. He said he had a detailed discussion with Ms Gandhi on the party's situation in the state. Stating that he had full confidence in Ms Gandhi, Mr Jagan said he was not aspiring for any post, including the Chief Minister.

Becoming Chief Minister is not important. Implementation of the programs and welfare schemes initiated by my father are more important than becoming Chief Minister or any post. As per my father's wishes, I would work to ensure that AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi becomes Prime Minister after 2014 elections. My father wished to get 41 Parliament seats out of 42 from Andhra Pradesh in 2014 elections and see Rahul as the Prime Minister of the country. Mr Jagan said he, along with his supporters, including ministers and legislators, would work as party workers to ensure that the programs and policies of his father were implemented for the benefit of the state and the people, irrespective of who is the Chief Minister.
