Hyderabad, Sep 20th: The reforms in the intermediate public exams initiated by the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) this year have evoked stiff resistance from students and teachers. They said the reforms were not in the interest of the students. As part of the reforms to be implemented from March 2010 exams, the BIE has decided to do away with the system of providing additional answer sheets to students. This will first be tried on the first and second language papers of first and second year students and later will be extended to all the other subjects.

However the students and teachers have strongly opposed the move. They said this new reform will affect the performance of students in exams. The BIE officials made it clear that the booklet system was introduced with an intention to inculcate discipline and time sense in students as some students tend to write lengthy answers unnecessarily even after being told to write in given number of words. The decision to shift centers for practical examination has also drawn flak from teaches. The decision was taken as intermediate marks will be given 25 percent weightage in Eamcet.
