Rajahmundry, June 5th: To find out the levels of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and suspended particular matter in the air, the AP pollution Control Board authorities are going to set up centers to monitor the ambient air quality at select locations in both Kakinada and Rajahmundry. The authorities are likely to come out with recommendations in case they found the gases beyond permissible levels in East and West Godavari districts.
As part of the National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Programme funded by the Union Ministry of environment, the state pollution control board authorities are going to set up the monitoring centers mainly at sensitive, residential and industrial areas. Initially the center will be set up at residential area in Kakinada. Similarly another monitoring center will be set up in Rajahmundry in the month of September.
The main objective of these centers is to keep track of levels of sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide and suspended particular matter in the air. The stations will monitor ambient air quality and prepare data for 24 hours a day at eight hours interval and give feed back. Based on the data there will be recommendations like diversion of vehicular traffic from one direction to another, directions for the usage of environment friendly technology in case a particular industry is causing more air pollution
