State soon to have new fire stations

Rajahmundry, June 28th: The AP Fire and Emergency Services will soon have 68 new fire stations in the state. Depending upon the need each district will be allocated with three to four stations. In additional, the department will construct new building to suit the changing needs and acquire vehicles and equipped with latest fire fighting devices.

 

Speaking to the media persons here on Sunday, the additional director of fire services, Mr. G. Pratap Reddy, said that 30 vehicles were being provided every year and in the last three years, 90 vehicles were supplied to various fire stations in the state. Mr. Reddy was here on inspection duty in East Godavari. He said that a proposal was sent to the government for sanction of Rs 20 lakh each to 35 buildings in the state.

 

The department has also acquired a risk equipment vehicle with Rs 40 lakh to deal with natural calamities. The vehicle will be equipped with a generator and wood cutting machine for clearance of trees and a small boat to be used during floods and heavy rains. At present such vehicles were in use in Hyderabad and the department is planning to start the same in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupathi.
