The State Bandh, which was conducted by all the opposition political parties against the hike of power tariff and power cuts in the state here on Tuesday, was peaceful. CPI (M), the CPI and the CPI (ML-New Democracy), TDP, BJP, YSR Congress & Loksatta parties took out a rally as a part of the bandh here on various places in the district. Activists of the TDP and the YSRC took out separate motorcycle rallies in the city, raising slogans that the recent hike in the power tariff must be rolled back and the government must ensure uninterrupted power supply to all the sectors. Educational Institutions, Banks, Government & Private Offices declared holiday. Meanwhile, buses were stopped for half of the day. Most of the commercial establishments, shopping complexes and other businesses were closed as the agitators forced owners to down shutters except the medical shops. Even cinema theatres observed bandh and put the notices on display stating that the shows were cancelled in view of the bandh. However, the bandh evoked good response in the district here on Tuesday. Police deployment was made in all the important centres and places like the bus station to prevent untoward incidents. However, the bandh remained peaceful and complete in the district.
