Kakinada, Mar 22nd: The Secondary School Certificate exams which commenced on Monday held peacefully on the first day. According to the district educational authorities no cases of malpractice or mass copying were observed on the day. For the benefit of 76, 048 students 322 centers were set up by the authorities and on the first day 964 students remained absent for the exam. Out of the absentees 670 were regular students and 293 are private candidates. District educational officer S. Dharmaraju visited nearly 100 centers on the day one. Flying squads and other staff inspected 88 examination centers. Meanwhile in West Godavari district as many as 734 students out of the total 54, 731 failed to appear for the Telugu language exam.
