The number of Sri Lankan fishermen arrested by Indian Coast Guard police reached 84 with the two new boats caught here on Monday. In total it reached 17 boats in this year, which consists crew of 84 fishermen. According to the reports, Indian Coast Guard (Eastern) region were patrolling, suspecting that terrorists may enter through sea. Therefore, they made surveillance that Sri Lankan fishermen may also carry destructive goods. They caught four boats on 22nd and 2 more boats on 28th of this month. Coast Guard Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mr. Sanjeev Diwan and Coast Guard Vessel ‘SARANG’ Assistant Commandant Mr. Devendar Singh stated that 18,900 kg of fish was apprehended this year.
