Kakinada, May 4th: A separate ID (Infectious Disease) wing started in the Kakinada Government General Hospital to admit Swine flu suspects. The special unit was opened by following the instructions of the Director of Medical Education (DME), Hyderabad. The Kakinada Government General Hospital (KGGH) is the only teaching hospital for both East and West Godavari districts.
After admitting the Swine flu suspect cases, hospital authorities will collect the necessary samples and send them to testing centers, the NICD ( National Institute of Communicable Diseases), New Delhi or NIV (National Institute of Virology), Pune, for the necessary tests. All the medical care will be provided to the suspected patients.
The Medical Superintendent of KGGH, Dr. M.B.R. Sharma, on Monday reviewed all the arrangements with concerned doctors. Dr. Sharma said that Swine flu symptoms are similar to flu with high fever, body pains, cough, sore throat, headache and it is also infectious. He also said that the necessary drugs were available with the KGGH.
