Rajahmudry, May 11th: To tackle the problem of dropouts and help retention, the tribal welfare authorities have planned to coach students in summer vacation. The authorities are conducting special summer coaching camps in the regency of Rampachodavaram in East Godavari to help tribal in improving their academic performance. These camps are in progress and will continue till May 30.
As many as 2,800 students from both ashram schools and tribal welfare residential schools were selected for this special coaching setup at Iralapalli, Seethapalli, K. Yerrampalem, Gangavaram, Rampachodavaram, Musurumilli and Vadlanka. Academic tests were conducted to the students to find out their skills in Telugu, Hindi and English. Maths, Science and social subjects were also covered under these tests. The students are divided into two groups based on their performance and this will help them get trained better.
Apart from academics, students are also getting trained in extra curricular activities like games and sports and were provided with TV for entertainment in the evenings. Nutritious food including eggs and chicken will be provided during their stay in the hostel. According to tribal welfare deputy director, B. Mallikarjuna Reddy coaching on Soft skills in English is also being provided.
