Special prayers to Malayappa Swamy

Tirumala, Sep 23rd: Thousands of devotees offered special prayers to Sri Malayappa Swamy, the festival deity, who was taken through four mada streets on 'Simha Vahana' on the third day of the annual 'Brahmotsavams' being celebrated in the Lord Sri Venkateswara Temple here on Wednesday. The procession was preceded by recital of vedic hymns by Pundits, performance of 'Kolattam' by women devotees and signing of 'bhajans'. A larger number of devotees from various parts of the country performed in front of the Lord during the procession.

TTD had organized special seating arrangements along the four mada streets to enable thousands of devotees to sit around the temple and witness the procession. The event was broadcasted by  Sri Venkateswara Bhakti channel. Later, in the evening, after 'Oonjal seva' Utsavar Deity Sri Malayappa Swamy, along with his two consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi was placed on 'Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam', a pavilion decorated with strings of pearls, and taken around the mada streets.
