Department of Handlooms and Textiles is conducting a special Handloom Expo-2010 here from Saturday. The exhibition-cum-sale of handlooms will be held at Pynda Chalamayya Srinivasa Kalyana Mandapam, Temple Street. District Collector Mr. M.Ravi Chandra will inaugurate the expo at 6pm. Deputy Director of Weavers Service Centre Sunder Lal, Director of Handlooms and Textiles I.S. Srinaresh will participate in this inaugural function. Addressing media persons this Friday, Regional Deputy Director of Handlooms and Textiles Mr.A.Murali Krishna said 40 weavers from different parts of the State would put their works on display during the two-week exhibition. “We are expecting that we can make a business of Rs.1 Cr during the expo,” he added. Saris, dress materials, bed sheets and towels would be on display in the exhibition that would be kept open between 10 am and 9 pm.
