Special drive on edibles

Rajahmundry, May 13th: With the reports received by food authorities about formation of bacteria in packaged drinking water sachets and water bottles, the authorities are going to take up a special drive on both manufacturers and retailers of edible items, mainly packaged water, cool drinks and ice factories to ensure that no contaminated items is sold to public.

 

Food control authorities are working to conduct raids on food joints and conduct tests on suspected food items by sending for examination to the State Food Laboratory at Nacharam in Hyderabad. Each district has three food inspectors and it is mandatory for each of them to collect 12 samples every month and send them for examination.

 

According to the assistant food controller, Mr. K Narasimha the authorities are going to conduct special drive to check quality of all edible and will initiate punitive action if anything went wrong. Authorities are also taking up awareness drive to educate people on drinking water and food at roadside.
