Vijayawada, Nov 12th: The Krishna region of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate Super Luxury and Deluxe buses from here and all depots in Krishna district to Sabarimala for the convenience of Ayyappa pilgrims visiting Kerala, according to its Regional Manager A Koteswara Rao. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Rao said 20 Super Luxury buses and ten Deluxe buses having seating capacity of 35 and 39 seats respectively would start running from the next two days till January 15 next year and about 100 trips would be operated.
The price tagged for the elders was Rs 2,500 and for children Rs 1900 (to and fro charges) and the journey was fixed for five days, he said, adding the buses starting from Vijayawada would reach Pamba in Kerala after touching Srirangam, Madurai, Kurtalam, Yarramali and those Ayyappa pilgrims who would book ten tickets at a time would be provided free journey for one extra person. The Regional Manager said the region had a target to earn Rs 50 lakh by running the buses to Sabaramala this year. Last year, the APSRTC had operated four buses by giving on hire to the pilgrims visiting the Sabaramala and had earned Rs 3.5 lakh, he added.
