Kakinada, Feb 8th: The East Godavari superintendent of police, Mr. Y. Nagi Reddy suspended a total of 11 police constables of the Rajahmundry city police stations including from traffic wing. The SP on Monday issued suspension orders to the 11 police personnel as they indulged in corrupt practices by allowing 20 wheelers vehicles on rail cum road bridge in the city after taking bribes from the drivers of the vehicles.
It may be mentioned that as per the instructions of the SP, the 11 constables were deployed at the bridge to keep a watch on the 20 wheeler vehicles, which were prohibited on the road. The constables were directed to take the drivers into custody, if they fail to obey the rules of the department. But these 11 constables, including the driver of a police jeep, indulged in the corrupt practices and allowed some such vehicles on the road.
