Rajahmundry, July 31st: East Godavari Superintendent of Police Y. Nagi Reddy on Friday laid stress on traffic regulation in Rajahmundry. He said police sought co-operation from the Municipal Corporation. He had a meeting with Commissioner K. Manikraj and discussed arranging traffic islands, signal lights, stop boards, zebra lines and other measures. He said the Commissioner readily agreed to his proposals and he was confident that they would streamline traffic within a month or two.

The SP asked all the DSPs in the district to go for night patrolling in urban areas as the crime rate at night was increasing in the district. The SP said that they had sent proposals for three marine police stations -- Kakinada, Antarvedi and Vodalarevu the keep a vigil on illegal activities. He asked his force not to enter in any civil disputes and settlements and recalled that he has served a memo on Sub-Inspector of Peddapuram police station very recently. He said cellar parking was a prerequisite for new constructions and regularization of traffic on main roads was essential. He warned that police were going to be very tough with belt shops.
