The South Zone Women Hockey competitions were commenced in Sports Grounds in Kakinada here on Thursday. Andhra team disappointed in the first day match. The first league match between Andhra and Tamil Nadu teams was declared as draw. During the first 25 minutes of match, Sindhu Devi from Andhra team made a goal but later on for next 45 minutes match went on very dull. Taking this as advantage, Tamil Nadu team made a goal in last 20 minutes. Due to this, the match went on draw. At one stage, Andhra team got a chance for 5 Penalty shots, of which, they could make only one goal. However, Tamil Nadu team got a chance for 2 Penalty shots but they did not make any goal. Due to this match was declared as draw. Earlier, District Hockey Association President, Mr. Jayanth Kumar met all the players and wished them good luck. G.Vara Lakshmi achieved Man of the match award for performing her best in this match between Tamil Nadu and Andhra. In this program, Secretary Ravi Raju, Team Manager Nagamani and others were present.
