Kakinada, Feb 23rd: Inorder to keep a tab on AIDS patients details and making them go ahead with regular checkups, the district health authorities are developing a software to maintain data of all HIV/AIDS infected persons in East Godavari district. According to survey, nearly 40,000 persons were infected with the decease in the district out of which 5,000 are getting anti-retroviral therapy at ART centers at Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Amalapuram, Tuni and Ramachandrapuram.
Initially data pertaining to the patients availing ART will be prepared which includes residential address, marital status, health status and schedule of the medical course. With the details the authorities can easily find out the patients who need to come for a medical checkup and take medicines accordingly. Following the announcement of Chief Minister, Mr. K. Rosaiah during the budget session to provide a monthly pension to HIV affected people, the authorities are also busy in preparing the list. The additional DMHO, Dr. M. Pavan Kumar said that the process will be initially started on a pilot basis and later will be extended to other districts soon.
