Nearly 13 students who were trained in abacus and mental arithmetic by the Malaysia-based SIP Abacus and Brain Gym, won awards in the recently held Seventh National Competition in Hyderabad. Andhra Pradesh Head of the SIP, Mr. J. Sampath Kumar, at a press conference here on Friday, said over 4,300 students from 20 States participated in the event in which 13 students from SIP Kakinada bagged the prestigious awards and certificates of merit. He said SIP launched its branch in the city five years ago and the response from the parents and students was quite encouraging. The training provided by the SIP would help children enhance the capabilities of concentration and develop public speaking and visual skills, he added. He congratulated the students M. lakshmi Soumya, Lakshman, Manjusha, S.K, Monish, M. Ratan, M. Kavya, Srija, R. Sindhu, G. Raghavendra Chowdary, G.G. Radhika, M. Kailash Babu, K. Srinivas Arvind, A. Nimisha and K.A.K. Slakshnu for winning awards in the national event.
