Ship repair facility soon at Kkd

Kakinada, Nov 18th: A world class ship repair facility is coming up at Kakinada port in East Godavari district shortly to cater to the needs of offshore supply vessels and mobile drilling units, rigs in and around the Krishna Godavari basin. The Kakinada Sea Port Limited (KPSL) has come forward to set up the repairing facility which is the first of its kind in the east coast of India. Situated in close to the KG basin, KPSL wants to offer top-notch ship repair services to companies involved in oil and natural gas exploration activities off the Kakinada coast.

It has therefore decided to go one step further by launching this facility, a joint venture with M/S Sembawang, who have a world class shipyard in Singapore, for offering a combination of facilities and expertise for marine repairs. The focus would be mainly repairs for supply vessels and rigs by this new facility to be established on 20 acer on the KSPL premises here. The official MoU on the two year proposed project between the KSPL and the SSPL would be held in the end of November this year, sources disclosed.
