Shift locals to safe places: RDO

Kakinada, Feb 3rd: In wake of the ammonia gas leakage from the pipe lines, which supply  gas to Coromandal International Limited (CIL) plant in Vakalapudi area in Kakinada suburbs, Kakinada revenue divisional officer (RDO) Dr. G.C Kishore Kumar said on Wednesday that all the families in the fishing harbor area will be shifted to safer places. As a precautionary measure, round the clock vigil was kept in the area of the factory by revenue staff to keep a tab on possible leak again. Mr. Kumar said that the pregnant women in the area were shifted to safer places.

In the fishing harborpeta near the plant, about 200 families of fishermen live. Many of the residents who smelt the gas fled from the area. As the leakage was detected early it is said that the human loss was less. Two employees of the plant lost their lives in the leak and some more were admitted to the local hospital with headache and burning sensation in the eyes. Kakinada MLA Kurasala Kannababu visited the hospital and inquired about the gas leak victims. More than 30 people are under going treatment in Kakinada government hospital.
