SHG women to be covered under TFI

Kakinada, July 8th: Members of women’s self help groups (SHGs) in the state will be covered under the Total Financial Inclusion (TFI) in the next three years. A decision to this effect will be taken at the SLBC (state level bankers committee) meeting to be conducted on July 13. Under this program, loans to for housing and allied activity will also be considered for members of these groups. Husbands of the SHG members will also be covered under the Indira Bheema Yojana.

 

 The minister for rural development, Mr. Vatti Vasanta Kumar said on Wednesday that the government has extended rebate on interest to SHGs to three percent as part of women’s empowerment and self reliance. Addressing members if SHG zilla samakhyas at the territorial training and development center at Samarlakota, he said that Rs 600 crore was being spent every year to extend subsidiary to these groups. He question women about irregularity in paying loans to banks in the last six months on advances taken.
