SHG records to be computerized

Kakinada, Dec 27th: The activities of Self Help Groups (SHG) in East Godavari district are soon be computerized under E-Book Keeping (EBK) for effective implementation of the schemes. The EBK is a process of keeping full and up-to-date records of activities of any business or program in a computer. In the case SHG, it includes recording financial transactions, income and payments to SHG members and other details.

A computer expert explained that computerized bookkeeping would eliminate much of the paper work which directly increases the speed of work. There is no need to refer or verify all records kept online when we have internet facility, he added. Additional Chief Executive Officer of Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Mr. B. Rajasekhar, said that the EBK system would initially be implemented for SHGs of 39 villages which comprises a total of 60 mandals.
