Severe heat claims 7 lives in two days

Amalapuram, June 4th: Severe heat wave conditions in the Konaseema region of East Godavari district has claimed seven lives in two days. Unable to bear the intense heat as the day temperatures touched 46*C, four persons died in the region on Thursday. The region recorded 44*C on Wednesday and three persons died on the day. The authorities received reports of the death of seven persons form the region in two days.

 

Meanwhile people in Kakinada and surrounding areas are witnessing heat wave condition for the last four days. This started with 42.6*C on Monday and rose in the next two days to 43 plus. The scorching heat is forcing the people to stay back in houses between 12 noon and 4pm. Increased power cuts have added to people’s woes. Mr.P.S.R.K Timmaji Rao, secretary of KCC (Kakinada Consumer Council) asked the EPDCL authorities to take remedial measures and save the public from frequent power cuts in giving them a relief from the existing heat wave conditions.
