Guwahati, Oct 30th: Serial bomb blasts took place in Western Assam and Guwahati on Thursday afternoon which nearly killed 70 people and 470 were seriously wounded. 12 bomb blasts took place at a stretch which created terror in the people.
The first bomb blast took place in the city at Ganeshguri below the fly over. At the same time the bombs went off at Kokrajhar town, Barpeta, Bongaigaon. At Kokrajhar town nearly 2 bomb blasts took place which killed 21 people and many more were injured. In the city at a total 6 bomb blasts took place which killed 35 persons.
All the two wheelers and four wheelers were smashed in these blasts. Bomb placed at Guwahati, Deputy Commissioner Office nearly took 26 lives. Police are suspecting the involvement of Jihad groups in the incident as many of their groups were killed in police encounters.
Intelligence agencies are suspecting the hands of some local outfits in preparing the bombs and the involvement of Bangladesh-based fundamentalist groups like Huji. Assam Chief Minister Tharun Gogoi said that they are appointing special intelligence agencies to catch the hands involved in the blasts.
