Sehwag ruled out ...

Nottingham, June 9th: Virender Sehwag has been ruled out of the ICC World Twenty20 in England after failing to recover from a shoulder injury he sustained during the IPL in South Africa. He will be replaced by wicket keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik. According to the statement given by BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan, Sehwag will return to India after consulting medical experts in England.

Sehwag has picked up a shoulder injury midway through the IPL tournament. He missed two practice games and the match against Bangladesh and was rarely seen at practice. On Tuesday he batted briefly in the nets and was involved in lengthy discussion with Captain M.S Dhoni and manager, V. Chamundeswarnath. The manager was seen making a frantic call, apparently to BCCI officials who later sent a press release confirming the withdrawal of Sehwag.

Lack of clarity at Dhoni’s pre-match press conference led to anxiety  among media persons. Dhoni did not speak anything on the issue saying the BCCI will issue a press release. However the loss of Sehwag, a proven match-winner in any form of the game, would be a massive blow to India's strategy.
