The city witnessed a series of agitations, here on Friday, as a part of the Samaikyandhra Bandh against to the decision of Separate Telangana state. Yesterday, the 72-hrs Samaikyandhra Bandh, called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) was concluded.
Life was paralysed on the third day as the protests against bifurcation of the State continued in East Godavari district. The protests which have started steadily in the beginning have taken serious turn on Friday.
Students, Employees, Advocates, Auto Owners & Drivers, Educational Institutes Managements, Associations, Unions, Private Organisations and public including some Political Parties conducted rallies, strikes and rasta roko's in the city on Friday.
Students formed human chains in several places. Goods Auto rally was also observed in the city. Traffic was blocked due to rasta rokos.
Arson on roads by burning tyres in large-scale was witnessed in Kakinada. Some of the protestors burnt the affigy of Sonia Gandhi and also the statues of Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi in many areas in the city. The CRPF team came into action and controlled the situation in the city on Yesterday evening.
Merchants have closed their shops for the third consecutive day and the schools, colleges, cinema theatres, government and private offices were also closed.
Around Rs.500 crores of transactions were stopped in all the banks, as banks as well as ATM centres did not function for the last 72 hours.
The protestors pelted stones at the office of BJP in Kakinada. They also barged into the office of the CPI in the city.
Some of the Ministers, MP's & MLA's from Congress and TDP parties are announced their resignations.
