Kakinada, Dec 11th: Due to terror strikes in Mumbai claming several lives including the foreigners, the police department is tightening the security along the coastline. The department is taking many secure measures including the increase of security forces by appointing more number of police forces.
The department is in the process of enquiring the number of fishermen in the area and issuing identity cards for easy identification. At present only 15 police staff was working in the marine police station located at beach road. Proposal is being made to increase the number to 50 as an additional advantage.
Two marine boats costing rs.2 crore were also sanctioned to the department in which the storage of weapons and food packages can be done at time of attacks. By providing training in patrolling the department is planning to appoint coast guards and special party police.
Speaking to the media persons, DIG said that efforts were on to increase the number of check posts as well as women constables. He said that if situation demands they would give gun licenses to the representatives of the oil companies to keep vigil. He asked the concerned officers to have a check on the tourists visiting on tourist visa.
Later DIG, Mr. Ravi Gupta has inspected the police training center situated at Lalacheruvu on Thursday. He ordered the additional SP Ranganathan to start the training classes by the end of this month. He also inspected the place where the center is going to set up in Bommuru.
