Government has appointed three members for the Search committee who will scrutinize the appointment of new Vice Chancellor of JNTU-K. On this, GO Number 540 (Higher Education) has been released here on Tuesday. While, Late Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. YS Raja Sekhar Reddy was ruling, Government has announced in Kakinada to divide JNTU in three divisions. After this announcement, Prof.Allam Apparao was appointed as Vice Chancellor of JNTU-K in August 2008. However, tenure of Prof. Allam Apparao will end on 20th August, 2011. Therefore, Government has appointed Search Committee. UGC Former Member Prof. SK Joshi, Former Director of National Institute of Technology Dr.PG Sastry on behalf of JNTU and Principal Secretary MG Gopal (IAS) on behalf of Government were appointed for this Search Committee. However, there is also a contention that the tenure of Prof. Allam Apparao will be extended. On the other hand, three professors from the University have applied for this postion of Vice Chancellor. At the same time, 20 professors from other places also applied. The three-member committee will shortlist best three from the applications received and will submit to the Government.
