G. Annapurna, 34 year old lady, a native of Vanapalli village of Amalapuram mandal, had undergone caesarean and family planning operation in the Government General Hospital seven years ago. For the last three years, she had been suffering stomach ache and taking medicines on her own. When she visited a private hospital in Amalapuram recently, the doctors conducted tests on her and told that a surgical blade was inside her stomach. When they asked her about her medical history, Ms. Annapurna told them about the caesarean and the family planning operation. Later, she complained the District Administration and got herself admitted into the GGH for surgery. Doctors of the Government General Hospital (GGH) here conducted a surgery on and removed six-inch-long scissors from her abdomen on Friday. The doctors successfully removed the scissors and advised her to take rest for two weeks. District Collector, M. Ravi Chandra ordered an inquiry into the incident.
