Kakinada, Dec 21st: To overcome the loss of several academic days due to the ongoing stir against the proposed bifurcation of the state, school education authorities are planning to cut short the duration of Christmas and Pongal vacation for schools in East Godavari. The agitation resulted in closure of educational institutions in both the public and private sectors from December 11 to 20. Educational institutions are still unable to start classes as students have returned home and are finding it difficult to come back due to lack of proper transport facilities.

Schools are scheduled to be closed from December 24 to January1, 2010 for Christmas vacations and from January 9 to 18 for Pongal Vacations. School educational authorities are planning to cut short these vacations and give holidays only on the day of the festival.
