Schools in capital on alert

Hyderabad, Aug 10th: With the increasing raise of swine flu cases in the city, the state government has kept the schools in the capital on high alert. It has decided to send medical teams to schools to screen students if any infected with the flu. The authorities became alert after a class VIII students of Srinivasa High School in Amberpet tested positive for the infection. The girl picked up the infection from her father who had returned from Dubai recently. The other students of the school were also screened and were told about necessary precautions for prevention.

The government will prepare state run hospitals in the district to handle swine flu cases. The health minister, Mr. Nagendra said the government has about 20,000 Tamiflu tablets and was planning to buy another 10,000. District health officer, Dr. Jaya Kumar said “we are advising home quarantine of affected children. School managements and parents have to take utmost care to prevent spread of the disease. The government has asked RTC and railway officials to arrange for special counters to check passengers who come from Pune and other places where swine flu is spreading.
