Kakinada, May 10th: Through online process, scholarships to the tune of Rs 15.88 crore was paid to intermediate students in East Godavari district. According to the district BC welfare officer, Ms S.K Annapurna the amount was transferred to the concerned banks from the State Bank of India for online distribution. The issue of non payment of scholarships to the intermediate students came into light at the district consultative committee meeting of bankers organized at district collectorate on May 6.
Noticing the delay in the payment of scholarships, East Godavari District collector, Mr. Gopala Krishna Dwevedi ordered the SC and BC welfare officers to take appropriate steps for the transfer of scholarships into the student’s accounts by May 15. Responding to the orders given by the collector at the earliest the welfare authorities have made the transfer of scholarships into the accounts. Measures were also taken for the refund of tuition fee for eligible candidates.
